Grognak
Goliath Barbarian
The Scorched Awakening
Three winters ago, the towering goliath known as Grognak awoke amidst the smoldering ruins of a scorched barn. With his own skin still sizzling and the grim remains of burnt livestock smoking around him, his mind was an absolute blank. He possessed no memories of who he was, where he came from, or how he survived the inferno. He knew only one undeniable truth: the heavy battle axe tightly gripped in his massive hands felt as natural to hold as drawing a breath.
The Forest's Gentle Giant
The charred property belonged to an eccentric old forest witch. Rather than driving the intimidating, hulking figure away, she believed his fiery, miraculous survival was a profound omen sent by the gods. Taking him in, she allowed Grognak to work off the damages. He painstakingly rebuilt her ruined barn beam by beam, making the modest structure his new home. Under her patient guidance, the imposing warrior discovered a surprisingly gentle spirit, learning to deeply care for animals and appreciate the quiet, bountiful fruits of the forest.
Echoes in the Ash
With his debt finally paid and the barn restored, a restless yearning took hold of the gentle giant. Bidding farewell to his peaceful sanctuary, Grognak set out into the wider world to uncover the lost fragments of his past. Armed with his trusty axe and a lovable, simple-minded optimism, he seeks the truth of the man he used to be—blissfully unaware of the crimson-skinned tiefling who quietly watches over him from the shadows, guarding a shared history the goliath can no longer remember.
The Chimera's Vanguard
Today, Grognak brings his towering strength and steadfast heart to the eccentric ranks of The Chimera Company. As the party journeys headlong into A Rising Storm, the goliath stands as the group's unshakeable shield. Though he may not remember his former life or the battles he once fought, he is fiercely dedicated to his new companions, ready to swing his axe to protect his found family while searching for the memories the fire took away.
