Born on the Sword Coast to a modest family of nomadic red-scaled mercenaries, Ma'kou's early years were shaped by the open road and small-time contracts. But that fleeting life was violently cut short. While he was still young, his family was brutally murdered, and Ma'kou was abducted and dragged far from the coast. Taken to a remote Purple Dragon outpost, he traded the boundless horizons of his childhood for heavy shackles and the grueling, back-breaking torment of endless manual labor.
Ten Years of Cold Iron
Just as the chains of his captivity began to feel like his permanent fate, a new nightmare descended upon the outpost. A radical splinter faction of the Cult of the Dragon raided the settlement, mercilessly slaughtering almost every inhabitant in their wake. In the chaotic aftermath of the siege, Ma'kou made a devastating discovery: his mate, Telly, had vanished. With only the most minuscule shreds of evidence left behind to hint at her fate, he was left with nothing but shadows and unanswered questions.
Ash, Embers, and Echoes
Barely escaping the massacre with his own life, Ma'kou has spent the last decade wandering the realm as a hardened sellsword. Surviving by the edge of his blade, he takes on guard contracts and merchant escorts, a ghost walking the very roads he once traveled with his kin. Yet beneath his quest for glory and his desire to make a name for himself burns a much darker, all-consuming fire. Ultimately, he aims to hunt down and cleanse the land of every last dragon priest who tore his life apart.
The Heart of the Chimera
Today, the battle-tested mercenary travels alongside a band of misfits—a motley crew that appropriately calls themselves The Chimera Company. Ma'kou recognizes that their group is exactly like the beast they are named for: a chaotic, multi-headed force of nature. Unsure of exactly where this new path will take him, he marches into A Rising Storm confident that their combined ferocity is just as fierce as any monster, and more than a match for whatever stands in their way.
